Tedster
I've gotta get me a Hagstrom. I'm a junkie for retro cool guitars. Thanks for the link...even if others here may not be as appreciative... This one says "Tedster" all over it. Uhh...actually, it says "Hagstrom"... http://www.hagstrom.org.uk/images/DC/P46/P46Front%20Angle.jpg (Austin Powers voice) Yeah, baby!!! Blue Strat
Hey Hagstrom dude! Welcome to the forum. Stick around and post somethin'. Just a warning... I know you mean well by posting your link, but some folks around here might consider that SPAM. It's common practice to post links in your signature line, or in your post if it's something you're not affiliated with and you're discussing with the rest of the forum, like e-bay items, musician related websites, etc. I've never even seen a Hagstrom up close, but they really look cool and probably sound a good bit different from all those Fenders and Gibsons out there... That Hagstrom UK Man...
Well I'm here of a while... (It's getting on for 1am over here). Sorry about the format above - no bad form intended! I've owned a Hagstrom or more (now 22) since 1974. My son has moved from his strat to them now, so I have to share. It's funny how they're always considered the underdog - until you get a good one. I'm not talking vinyl covered or sparkles - that's the quaint and quirky newcomer trying to get noticed (1958>), although many remember them fondly too. No, I'm talking SuperSwedes, Vikings D'Aquisto Models and Scandi's (this one didn't make it to USA by request of a well known maker indicated above). Mind you a few of the earlier models did have something special too - even if they were still a bit... distinctive (?) - Corvettes Impalas etc Sure some of the solid mahogany ones were good training for worlds strongest man, but they flew too - and still can if a player knows how to play more than talk. I've talked enough guys. It was just an idea for those interested.. I'm no sweet talking trader. Cheers All Yall Just looked above - quick on the post here (kewl), the red one is one of the first electrics they made (1958) The ES335 type is a rare transition Viking from Canada (1968)... hey I'm talking again, and it's all written down elsewhere already Enjoy, and thanks for the welcome guys. kickin ass the fun way - music! I dig the old retro sparkly things, as well as the more serious models you mention. Gimme a sparkly guitar, some pomade for my hair, a bowling shirt and some wingtips and we're ready to hop cat, hop! That Hagstrom UK Man...
Yeah, but forget the straplock on a solid mahogany and that could make you hop too! http://www.hagstrom.org.uk/images/DC/Swede/Dcswede9.jpg You want real sparkle? how about this 1962 limited Batman model: http://www.hagstrom.org.uk/images/DC/Batman/DlxaRoses.jpg kickin ass the fun way - music! Gabriel E.
Never had one but a music store I frequented as a kid used to have an old Hagstrom Impala that I really wanted. The neck was really nice and it sounded great. Even the vibrato worked well. dougsthang
Man, I'm cracking up. I was just looking at your site the other day. It was finally time to get my old Hagstrom out of the closet and polish her up for her new spot on the studio wall. I have a 1971 H II N. I love this guitar... Can you hip me to a place that might have rounded pickup rings in black?. mine are trashed and I don't like the look of the squared off traditional mounting ring. overheard street personality on Venice Beach "Man, that Bullshit is Bulllshhittt...." That Hagstrom UK Man...
OK so you need some hen's teeth eh? Maybe try Vintage Guitars Stockholm - Link on my site, or maybe try the USA Hagstrom Forum (I closed mine so as not to compete - what a martyr). Or there are a few guys who still do spares old and NOS, last resort mail me and I'll pass on to them to reply if they can help. Is this OK guys? - I'm not spamming or anything am I? (dumb limey) Cheers 1.45am - time for zzzzzzzz Dave. PS: The HIIN is one of the best - REALLY nice and versatile without needing to be a lumberjack to lift it! There's a music track on my Menu/Contents page with Geoff Stich on his recently acquired one... kickin ass the fun way - music!
Blue Strat
It's hard to beat this guitar.... http://i21.ebayimg.com/01/i/01/22/a2/24_1.JPG 1962 Silvertone/Danelectro. I had a Silvertone 1482 amp that would just kick ass with my Danelectro 59-DC, but it rattled like hell too... I've still got my 1961 Princeton, so I sold the 1482 to someone who needed it more than I did. BlueStrat a.k.a. batterypowered
I agree with Tedster's taste on this one. That thing's pretty sexy. The H II Ns look pretty nice, too. *adds more guitars to the pawnshop watch-for list* twoblock.net batterypowered.org
