I just tried a Strat type guitar recently with DiMarzio Virtual Vintage 54 pickups. It really is as good as advertised. All the Strat tone, but without the hum. I can crank the gain on those mothers, and the single coil sound is there. High gain feedback is awesome with these, too. Because the 60 hertz hum is eliminated, the feedback is more controllable, and musical to my ears.

 

Of course, the clean sounds are just so beautiful. All the bell tones are retained. Not to metion, I don't have to hunt hard for these things. I'd buy a new Strat, and have these in that guitar in a split second. That's how much I like them.

I must be toadilly weird, but i haven't played a strat yet with buckers that i liked.

 

Don't get me wrong, i loooooove the sound of searing hot pickups with a lot of gain, but there's just something about singles on a strat that i just love.

whoa! somebody who agrees with me about humbuckers in a strat!(well, your the second person I know)puttin buckers in a strat is like takin steroids, it ill make people scared of you, but it shrinks your balls.

That link don't work!

It works just fine for me. GO to that link, click "english", then on the next page look for the banner with the guitars on it. On the next page that loads, look for the list of guitar names and click the one you want. On the next page that loads, click "agree" and then it'll load the flash program. Lots of links to follow, but I couldn't get a direct link to work.
