Well I don't know what type of gibson uses "the gibson" logo, but that one you are showing seems to be worth "THE MONEY"! (HE! HE!)

Look at the PRICE!! Too rich for my blood!

Like I said....I don't know why they would put "the Gibson" on the headstock.......but they sure want THE MONEY for it!

Heck, I'll take a dozen! Like I said, their big hollowbody archtops...and some of their acoustic instruments, banjos, mandolins, and the like.

The Gibson was a popular Gibson logo in the 1920's and before, I believe. A quick look in the Gruhn Guide to Vintage Guitars will answer your question. If you don't want to track down a copy, call 1-800-4GIBSON and ask for Drew. He (or any other Gibson Customer Support rep) will gladly look it up for you.

It's been a few years since I looked that up. ;)

Understood, but the Gruhn Guide often notes recent reissues that use certain retro features. I don't know when George and/or Walter Carter (Longtime Gibson historian and co-author) updated the listings to account for recent reissues.

Also, the custom shops sometimes make instruments with features otherwise unavailable, although this is more common in Nashville with electric instruments than Montana acoustics.

"Keep us posted", and let us all know what you find, and everything!

Oh, yeah... good luck, good hunting! I hope you find something awesome, for cheap! :thu:
