Hundreds of Bands mainly Celtic and metal were influenced by Tolkien books

Prog-Rock band "Marillion" takes it`s name from the Tolkien book Silmarillion

An interesting Prog-Rock Celtic style band is called "Mostly Autumn"

There was in the 60s a band called "The Hobbits"

The Beatles wanted to make the film Lord of the Rings with Stanley Kubrick as director in 1967

"Creo en la Reflexión, no en Dogmas"

Their original name was Silmarillion but quickly changed it because of fear that it was copywrited or could get them in trouble. Their lyrics never had anything to do with Tolkien or anything science fiction.

I've been playing their new DVD "Christmas in the Chapel" everyday. Highly recommended

Oh, yeah, when he sang "Frodo of the Nine Fingers"! That's hilarious!! When I was a kid, a friend had a record of that and we'd laugh ourselves silly after singing along with it all "serious"-like!

Wasn't that in a "Star Trek"-episode, where Spock sings and plays an electric harp or lyre with a lot of echo on it for that "space" and "sci-fi" sound?!

By the way, Rush did a song, "Rivendell", a long time ago. And, of course, there's Robert Plant's (Led Zeppelin, remember?) yelping about "Gollum, an' TH' E-VIL ONE," creepin' up on him...

And, SteveRB, I saw Marillion play in Rochester, NY years ago, in an old theater that was all antique hardwood and stained-glass, then called "The Renaissance Theater Club". That was when Fish was still with them, and he was one of the two best "rock" singers I've seen, as far as one's voice holding up well through an entire show, and sounding as good or better live than studio-recordings.

Ask yourself- What Would Ren and Stimpy Do?
