He does handle that slide doesn't he? They are both great players and Hittin' the Note is mixed with the guitars in your face and panned hard to each side. Randy Combs
The Georgia Satellites were a pretty rockin' band. They were more than "Keep Your Hand To Yourself".

Although they clearly have "Southern" influences, it's mostly from New Orleans as opposed to the Southeast. Much more sophisticated than the above bands. I agree, it is a little bit of a reach, but they have all the elements of southern rock (killer slide, smooth-but-funky grooves, down-home lyrical themes, even a singer with a southern accent) in addition to the complex rhythms, non-standard song structures, and bizarre sense of humor. Maybe they should be called southern jazz ot something, but Feat is definitely southern. Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else. JLsound
Allman's are great, but I don't think they ever considered themselves Southern Rock, and I thought I heard that that is why in the 70's they never toured with Lynyrd Skynyrd. Could anyone clarify this. Jim http://www.artistlaunch.com/artist4.asp?artistid=3633 http://www.myspace.com/jlockmusic
frankencat
To me the defintive bands are: Lynyrd Skynyrd Allman Brothers Outlaws Marshall Tucker Molly Hatchet My favorite SR recordings are: Lynyrd Skynyrd - One More From the Road, Street Survivors, Gimme Back My Bullets, Pronounced, Second Helping, Dang - All of them! Allman Bros - Live at Fillmore East Outlaws - Bring it Back Live, Playing to Win Molly Hatchet - Molly Hatchet And an honorable mention for Charlie Daniels and Blackfoot. One more thing: ZZ Top, before the lame drum machine days set in, were one of the greatest bands of all time. Deguello RULES and was thier last album as far as I am concerned. Anyway, these guys are more blues and old-school rock than SR to me and that is why I didn't include them. YMMV. Choice Guitar Traders http://www.choiceguitartraders.com The Player's Choice!
