While I have full respect for the much-cited John Coltrane I can't help speaking up for my personal favorite sax player from that era, Rahsaan Roland Kirk. Germany. I can't remember the name of the CD, but man, was the performance amazing! "Black and Blue", "Strutting With Some BBQ", and "Mac The Knife" were some of the highlights. Louis and the entire band were just so hot!
