timrocker
I put together three or four strats in the eighties. I don't have any photos to post, 'cuz they're long gone. I had a strat with fender hardware and a warmoth solid rosewood neck. It was neck-heavy from the density of that wood, but it looked cool and sounded fine. I had a blue saga kit body later on that had a dimarzio strat neck that I never did put a finish on. Loved the feel of it with just sanding sealer. Played it literally to death. Also had a black body with an explorer neck bolted on, with a black Floyd Rose. Usually used a dimarzio PAF 'bucker in the bridge and a pair of single coils. I do think that you gain something when you put together your own choice of hardware and set it all up your own way. Those guitars sounded really good. I'd like to do it again, with some warmoth wood and just the right pickups. Yeah. Soon as I win the lottery or get sponsored. Or both.
