elferoony
So I am using Cakewalk for work. I don't know how it is considered in here, but I like the relatively easy interface for basic multitrack recording. I'm not sure what program I should use to convert the multitrack in cakewalk to mp3.
freddynl
You will have to mix down first to a standard pcm.wav file. From there on there are ton's of freebies on the net to convert to mp3. gigging favorites at the moment LP Special order 1973 and PRS custom
Dak Lander
Once you've mixed down to a stereo track there are lots of programs available to render to mp3. I use Musicmatch & it works very well. The free version also does a nice job. Our Joint "When you come slam bang up against trouble, it never looks half as bad if you face up to it." The Duke... elferoony
Yeah, what I am looking for is the best wav-mp3 converter. I had one a long time ago but forgot what it was called, and cannot find any more good ones.
Dak Lander
Give Musicmatch a try. I think you'll like it. The conversions I've done, lots of them, have come out very clean with no glitches. philbo_Tangent
The best one I've found (and I did tests on all the ones I could find) is LAME. And it's free. ALL the other ones I tested would chop everything above 16 KHz by as much as 40 dB (!) presumably in the interests of "better compression". LAME also does this by default, but (unlike the others) it allows you to turn off this "feature". Do a google search for 'Razor LAME' to find it. Ironically, LAME is a nested acronym - - it stands for "LAME Ain't an Mp3 Encoder".... DC
Lame and Razor Lame (the win interface) are the best IMO. -David http://www.garageband.com/artist/MichaelangelosMuse
