mark_dog
I have a Mesa Boogie Rect-O-Verb combo. It sounds great. They are expensive but IMO well worth it. Mesa Boogie is the name of the manufacturer, Boogie is not the model . Their most popular amp is probably the Road King. What a f*cking beast! If you are looking to try one I would recommend something from the Rectifier series.
revorhythm
I've played through a MB rectifier and it all depends on what you play. Mesa's are a good metal amp cuz they are loaded with gain. If you have heard a Boss Metal Zone pedal, they sound the same. I personally play a kinda country, blues, punk mix and I use a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, I'm getting a Boss Blues Driver for overdrive, and I use an epi Sg, soon to also own an epi Lp standard. hot girls, fast cars, and even louder guitars
iminsellingfeeny
yeh what i have right now is an epiphone les paul black beauty. and my amp a fender half stack stage 100.
doc taz
Not a bad amp there, the Stage 100. The combo version sounds pretty good too, though my dad found it too thin sounding. Must've been the Celestion G12T 100 speaker, the drive channel or something... I like that speaker. It's tighter sounding than the Eminence speakers that a lot of older Fender solid state combos use. I think your gear will suit you well for a while. Don't worry about getting a tube amp just yet. sevenstring.org profile my flickr page
roy d
yeah... what he said now a long answer to a short question... Seriously, there are lots of great amps out there at a variety of price points and power levels, each with its own sound. My advice would be to not spend that kind of money until you have a better idea of what you want/need. In part that comes with maturity. You'll find here for example that many of the better players tend to gravitate towards lower power (well under 30 watts), tube, with simple designs. There is a recent thread on the Dr. Z. Carmen Ghia which only has two knobs and 4 tubes but sounds great. Lower power lets you push it a bit more so the character of the output tubes comes into play. OTOH, metal players may prefer a solid state amp for the higher gain. If you're playing large venues without a great PA, you may want a larger amp. If you're playing large venues with a great PA, 8 watts and a good microphone may give you the best sound of all. For small to medium venues 30 watts may be almost too much. For years I played with a great band using a 20 watt tube amp. The bass player was using 300 watts and the rhythm player 60 but my 20 sounded great and was more than loud enough. The type and number of speakers/cabinets also has a great deal to do with volume and tone. So... don't worry so much about gear now. Work on your chops, your stage show, and learning about your sound. Then, the equipment will be obvious to you. DC
www.mesaboogie.com I'm not real keen on the rectifier ones, but the Mark series is way cool. I've got a Mark IV and a Studio Caliber 25 watter. -David http://www.garageband.com/artist/MichaelangelosMuse

And, there was some good info posted regarding your question. Try to focus on the positives and have fun with the ribbing they give you. It's nothing personal. An easy way to avoid people razzing you about the spelling and grammar would be to correct it best you can. Try the "Spell Check" button to the right of "Add Reply" if you need a little help. I'm not in the habit of using it myself, but I should be. Anyway, keep us posted on what you decide. Have you tried a Mesa? If not, head down to your local music store and crank one up! mark_dog
I believe that someone had said that it was good for metal only. I don't play metal. I can always get a good blues crunch. They do have massive amounts of gain for metal, but that doesn't mean you have to use it. You just have to play around for awhile to get the sound you want because the knobs are super sensitive. You're 14. My youngest kids are older than you, and if they'd have had spelling problems, I'd have corrected them, too. Time to have some respect for your elders, young man. Play your guitar. And do your schoolwork, or you might end up like a hundred other "great" guitarists my age that I know. Still playing the same skunky tunes in the same skunky bar for the same skunky people, night after night, week after week. (Mr. Rogers' voice): "Can you say 'Seger'? I knew you could". dougsthang
I have a Mesa Boogie MarkIIC amongst my collection of amps. It was my main amp for years of live performance. Never failed me once in hundreds upon hundreds of shows. I'll leave it in it's roadcase for awhile then take it out and plug my Tele or Strat into it and your right there. It's "the sound" and I just shake head. I can remember being in rehearsals, this is after playing through the amp for years and still it would stop me in my tracks when I would really listen to the tone. I'd say to the guys "man, listen to this amp!" they'd just go "yah, yah, whatever..." damn drummers and bassists.... When I worked at EMG, Boogie was right down the street. They offered to buy back the MarkIIC from me. That tells you what a special amp that was in there legacy... overheard street personality on Venice Beach "Man, that Bullshit is Bulllshhittt...." jonnbee
my main amp is a Mesa Boogie Mark IIb. i like it a lot. don't know much about the newer ones, but would be interested in learning what they are like. anybody know what new model would be along the same lines as the Mark IIb ? (ie 50-60 watts, 1- 12" spkr) Those who can,do. Those who cannot, usually run the monitor mix.
