Scott Jones
Hey guys, I didn't want to lose this in the other thread, so a teaspoon of spamalicious tunage, if you will... As if I haven't done Giant Steps to death... I had to do again...this time as a medium bossa, to take some time with the chord changes.... Sjones-GIANT STEPS _____________ AND... Fusion guitarist Scott Lerner (Jazbrkr on some forums), and I did a Cyber collaboration on a Brecker Brothers backing track.... Here is what HE posted in another forum, with the link to the tune: Originally posted by scottl Scott Jones out did himself on this one! Great lines from the master. Great jamming on a Brecker Brothers funk fusion backing track. He plays some wicked altered patterns and some nice Gambale/Henderson style licks. At one point he growls a beautiful bluesy bit. He solos first of course. I come in at 1:46 after his terrific Holdsworthian lick. I tried to be more pocket on this since my chops are not like Scott's. I think we both spent about 10 minutes doing our solos! Mine was just improvised after a few practice takes. We hope you all like it!! Scott Jones and Scott Lerner Fusion Collab Scott LernerYes, we do hope you like it!!! Thanks for always listening!!! pauldil
Very hot stuff there Scott! Just curious, do you find it more challenging to play Giant Steps this way, where you have to come up more to play over each chord, or when you play it more up-tempo? I really like what you did on the Brecker Bros tune. Any chance you can post the backing track to that? Paul

PaulActually it's harder up tempo...I can play over ii V I's all day at medium tempo, but it really gets challenging at anything above 240... I can post the backing track tomorrow, as I don't have it with me, and won't be home...(I'm seeing Michael Landau with James Taylor tonight) Anyway, thanks for listening...I REALLY appreciate it...
