alphajerk
just got back from the show in charlotte. gawd muthafucking damn was that one of the most incredible shows i have ever seen!!! 'ted, just admit it' was absolutely hallucination inducing, and no... i wasnt "on" ANYTHING [well beer, but that doesnt count] its about time a REAL band is touring. and flea WASNT on bass thank god, he ruined the sound last tour i saw in 97ish. i had thought it was eric avery but found out it was martin lenoble on bass who did such a superb job. there was so much titty on stage and around us too, dancers everywhere they played all their great songs... all killer, no filler. show opened with kettle whistle, other songs included: ocean size, [cuming down the] mountain song, stop, 3 days, classic girl, jane says, ted. just admit it, trip away, summertime rolls, and others i cant remember at this moment. alphajerk FATcompilation "if god is truly just, i tremble for the fate of my country" -thomas jefferson
russrags
Alfa, What do you know that I don't ???? Are they back together again ???? With Perry Farrell ??? If the news doesn't come through my headphones I usually don't get it. I used to see them ALL the time in LA .. usually they never took the stage before 3AM. The clubs had these great his/hers bathrooms and things were pretty wild !!!! I got to work with them in the Studio for their 3rd album (if you don't count their 1st live EP). Three weeks of them in the Studio everyday just jamming to ZZ Top and Led Zepplin songs on a rented X-850 ... they all went into rehab for a while after that ... the album was delayed for quite a while and I wasn't on the real deal. But what fun it was. Keep us posted Russ

alphajerk
yep, with perry farrell... i dont think it would be a janes show without perry. i still miss eric playing with them but martin did a great job. from what i have heard, they are just going to be doing shows every so often like this... i know perry is DJing now and navarro is doing that poppy crap [heard one of his tunes at the show where he sang, not impressed.... deconstruction was so much better although still nowhere near janes] stephen perkins is still the SUPREME DRUMMER, NOBODY can touch what he does. NOBODY. ya lucky bastig getting to work with them, im EXTREMELY jealous. they are probably one of my favorite groups of all time. which was their 3rd album? triple XXX, nothings shocking, ritual, kettle whistle... what EP? the only other band i have seen with the same power as them live is clutch... minus the freaky stageshow. alphajerk FATcompilation "if god is truly just, i tremble for the fate of my country" -thomas jefferson
russrags
Alpha, If I'm not mistaken (I'm actually just to lazy at the moment to go dig for it) XXX is the LIVE EP .... ritual, kettle whistle (aka "Ritual De Lo Habitual") is the one I did Pre-Production for. Well see I did get off my butt to look it up, because I've been calling it "Ritual, Kettle Whistle" for years !!!! Ha !! Ha !! Any word on a new record with J.A. ???? You've got me interested in "Clutch" now. Russ
jflush
I was very happy with the Jane's addiction show I saw in Toronto last week! Totally rockin! I miss Eric Avery too. Dave Navarro blew me away! I had forgotten how killer of a player he is! Smokin' guitar sound...Holy crap! The only problem I had with the show, was that I couldn't hear Perry for the entire first half of it...Duh ! Eventually, this problem was fixed... Somebody turned on his mic. ( Nice job sound guy) You never have to deal with any kind of shit like that at a KISS show... I'll tell you that! Performance wise, Jane's kicked my ass! They basically took up where they had left off the last time I saw them, which was on the first Lollapa... On top of their game! The best at what they do. alphajerk
kettle whistle was actually the remix album that came after ritual in '97 with 2 new tracks 'kettle whistle' and 'so what!' + demos of other out takes and demos. its okay, but most of the stuff i already had on bootlegs. live xxx [87] nothings shocking [88] ritual [90] kettle whistle [97] i have some janes live bootlegs that are floating about that i really dig too. nothing shocking tends to be my favorite. my clutch fav is 'jam room' thats only available through them [www.clutchgear.net] and then i like the 'self-titled' album next. dont really sound like janes AT ALL, but the combination of players give the same power... steady low end bassist with some tasty lines, a great rythym/lead guitarist that covers lots of ground and sound, a superb drummer that makes you draw drop from the immense talent, and an intellectual singer who talks heavily between the lines. also kudos to the person who did the lighting at the janes concert. job VERY well done. just goes to show you can have "dancers" on stage WITHOUT all doing the same routine... or clothes at least i could easily see WHO was CREATING the MUSIC.... i want to see it again! alphajerk FATcompilation "if god is truly just, i tremble for the fate of my country" -thomas jefferson

Chip McDonald
I wish they'd play somewhere in Atlanta other than the stupid Lakewood Ampitheatre (outdoor shed), I'd make the trip probably... It's funny, they're back together and I've heard NOTHING about it - again, the dingbat industry sleeps. ------------------ New and Improved Music Soon: http://www.mp3.com/chipmcdonald Guitar Lessons in Augusta Georgia: www.chipmcdonald.com Eccentric blog: https://chipmcdonaldblog.blogspot.com/ / "big ass windbag" - Bruce Swedien
Scott from MA
Hey alpha... glad to hear it was a good show. They started the tour here in MA, but I didn't get to go. I've seen them a few times, and it was always a great show. Last time I saw them they had Flea, and you're right, he SUCKED! Good to hear that they found someone to replace him. Too bad they can't get Eric back. So... my understanding was that they are only doing a short tour, until November, and then Perry and Dave are going off on their solo tours. Anyone know if they plan to get back together again after they're done with the solo things? Any word on a new album coming out of this? velvetgeorgeyahoo.com
Clutch!!!! Couldn't agree more. They rock. I ran monitors for them last week at a 500 seat club. INCREDIBLE. The place was packed to the gills just rockin. What a refreshing break from all the crap I usually see. Too bad the bar security had to fight with the band security over some titty dancers..... alphajerk
it was all over the radio here in town and we are 2.5 hours from charlotte. did i mention i was 8th! row!!! woo hoo. it was at verizon ampitheater, havent been to a show like that in 6 years i dont think, last show was actually at the same place seeing lollapalooza with the beasties headlining. i didnt mind it being somewhere like that for janes, there musta been 15k+++ there. where is eric avery? alphajerk FATcompilation "if god is truly just, i tremble for the fate of my country" -thomas jefferson
Chip McDonald
Originally posted by Trash Monkey: Chip, They played Phillips Arena last Monday.
Just as well, I suppose. Arenas suck. Not that I heard anything about it until now.... but you know - why is it a band can play at such a huge place, turn a profit apparently - BUT THEY'RE NOT ON THE RADIO????
