Lund
Hi all Have any of you tried the Kent Armstrong Mini lipstick tube pickups? They are supposed to sound like the normalsized version but fit into a strat pickguard... but still the size and construction is also part of the whole structure of a pickup... so i wanted to know...has anyone tried them? Caevan O'Shite
Hey, Lund! Michael- I have played a couple of guitars in stores before that I believe were fitted with those; In my humble opinion, they sounded quite zingy and lipsticklish, great for twangy and medium-gain overdrive and edge tones. Kent Armstrong pickups enjoy an excellent reputation, and are used by many guitar makers. I am not necessarily a Dano'/Lipstick-Tube pickup expert and connoisseur, though; ask the fine folks at Fatdog's Subway Guitars about all things masonite @: http://www.fatdawg.com/gateway.html Fatdog and co. are renowned champions of both vintage "other" guitars and realistic prices in general, and have had much to do with the preservation and appreciation of the original Danelectros and other unusual axes. They'll steer ya right, for sure, and probably can recommend all kinds of options.
