James-Italy
Space_Ace113, What's up? Buying a used one? If so, just get the serial number and try Gibson. They've always been very helpful when I had specific guitar questions (with the serial # for specific guitars). If it's for another reason, check out their website- there is a lot of info on models and specs, but I don't think you'll find everything you're looking for. Another great place to try would be the LP forum where there are guys who know everything about the different models. http://www.lespaulforum.com/forum/index.php good luck! I have a '72 LP Custom, cherry-sunburst, and I used to have the nickname "Space Ace" (It was my on-air name when I was a DJ). To answer what I can of your questions: All hardware on it is (okay, "was"...) gold. Pickguard, pickups, jack plate & back plates all are black. I don't know the manufacturers for the various parts, but I'm sure you can find out. Gibson isn't always the best resource (they are more concerned with selling new guitars than archiving old stuff), so you might want to try The Les Paul Forum . Happy hunting, Ace!
