David Grissom

Does anyone know where to find some decent CD's w/ David Grissom's playing on them? I know that he is primarily a session player (right?), but where can you find some of his best material?

The 2 sound clips on www.drzamps.com are smokin'! He has a great sense of tone. (I promise that I am not spamming!)

Thanks! :)

Look no further than Joe Ely "Live at Liberty Lunch". David's all over the live album which makes it better because you hear him right out front.

I think you might be confusing him with the originator of "Dog music" David Grismon...the stellar mandolin player. speaking of him did anyone else get the opportunity to see David Grismon and Tony Rice play the concert where they play all the vintage instruments. I forgot the name of the tour and album, sometime in the mid 90's. I saw it in Carmel, CA in a tiny community theatre. Not sure if they played elsewhere. The jist of the show was they had a line of vintage acoustic guitars and mandolins dating from different eras. They would pickup the instruments and talk about the design, make and history then they would play a piece from that era. way cool...not only cool instruments but those guys rip...

Oh yah back to Grissom. He wails too. Got to hang with him back in my Washburn artist relations days with Joe Ely. Saw him play countless times. The guy was so consistent. I'm not a big PRS fan but he made it sound dang good.

Anyone who has the chance to see Joe Ely, go. The guy is a great songwriter and a truely great person. When he was doing a poster for us I had to call him and get a quote about his guitar. I guess I caught him of guard but he thought for a second and said (in your best Texas drawl..) "How 'bout 'She's as smooth as Fire'"...

Best quote I've ever heard...

Another David Grissom fan here, placing another vote for Joe Ely's "Live at Liberty Lunch", probably the hottest, rockin'st album ever found in the country section. Great playing throughout including one of the best solos I've ever heard on "Letter to L.A."

I would also recommend seeking out the two Storyville albums, "A Piece of Your Soul" and "Dog Years".

Also well worth picking up are the two instructional videos David did for Arlen Roth. Hot licks indeed!

ya know what, you`re totally right...I think he spelled it `dawg` after one of his album titles.

Methinks I shut up now.
