fantasticsound
I don't know why, exactly, but the misuse of the term tremelo to describe a "Whammy Bar", bugs the heck out of me. The correct term is vibrato bar. Vibrato describes a cyclical variation in pitch. Tremelo is a cyclical variation in amplitude. As in volume. I know the manufacturers have put forth this incorrect information. But when are we going to stop following in the mis-steps of an otherwise amazing individual named Leo Fender and a bunch of mistaken hardware manufacturers? Stop the insanity. It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Neil Bergman Soundclick fntstcsnd
Tedster
Wang bar, whoopee bar, whammy bar, and then my favorite: "vibrola tailpiece". Sounds kinda like some weird sexual toy. Yep, you're right. But they've been referred to so long as "tremolo bars" it's kinda hard to lose. Tell you the truth...I've never used one. phaeton
Yes... stuff like this burns me to no end. I've got several others to grind as well... and in any arena, be it musical, automotive, computing and what-have-you i have got a whole pile of stuff to get hung about. Sometimes i wonder if it's worth my frustration. And no, for the last time, my IBM/PC-Compatible computer is NOT A WINTEL machine. Ok, i feel a little better, i think. And as far as wang-bars, wank-rods and jiggle-sticks, i will never again purchase a guitar that has one. Dr. Seuss: The Original White Rapper . WWND?
