Well, if you saw a pic, it must be, right? :D

I've seen pics of him playing a Les Paul Jr...usually in that initial post-Beatle phase with Elephant's Memory at those gigs he was doing for causes like "Free John Sinclair"...stuff like that. I don't know what it had in it other than a P-90 though...

Yes, that's probably the guitar in question; I've seen those photos ( & it's also in that MSG concert he did with Stevie Wonder for some children's charity).

But take note, the wonder of computer technology & Photoshop allows the creation of images that never before existed, too.

Well, yeah...but replacing Lennon's guitar in a touched up photo isn't necessarily a high priority, I wouldn't think. Unless someone had a LP Junior with a Charlie Christian pickup they wanted to unload for a very hefty price, and even then, I would think that checking could be done to verify if the guitar had been Lennon's.

Now, if I wanted to be funny, I'd have Lennon playing one of those (who made 'em, B.C. Rich?) metalloid batwing guitars.

Actually, Ted, during the time of the Double Fantasy seesions Lennon was photographed with some modernistic looking instrument (maybe Rick Nielson gavit to him...Cheap Trick were on some sessions there)...I can't recall the brand but it was basically a neck with some sort of out-rider parts in lieu of a body.
