guitplayer and SteveRB finally meet.......

guitplayer came over to my humble home studio and we cranked up the tube amps and jammed for a couple of hours. A little Hendrix, some 12-bar blues, Santana's "Europa", and some simple progressions that had a George Benson vibe. San Diego hasn't rocked this hard since Slipknot came to town.

He's a very cool guy and it felt good to finally meet someone from these boards. He has a beautiful red PRS that plays like a dream and I let him play my '76 Goldtop Les Paul Standard. I should have taken a couple of keyboard solos but I forgot they were even on.LOL We talked about doing it again with possibly a drummer or bassist and that sounds like fun to me. Maybe acoustic guitars.

There you have it.

Allright! Way cool!

Well, y'all are in California, so, at least for now, probably won't get out there to jam with you folks.

But it sounds like a splendid time was guaranteed for all... :D

Yeah, Ted. Kinda far for me, too! Even if I went just to listen, which sounds like fun!

You two have a blast, damn your hides!

So much for my "doctors orders" to stop playing for a couple of weeks... well my "wierd tingly feeling is no worse this morning, so I guess I didn't do any new damage...

I'll just have to start the two week "vacation from playin'" today!

It was fun, Steve's a great guy... He's got a cool setup in his house to play, and we didn't scare the neighbors too much. It's fun to put a face to a virtual friend.

- When I told my wife I was getting together with Steve... she looked at me with a grin and said...

"You're going to meet a guy you met over the internet? At his house? Without meeting him in a public place first?"

I told her I wasn't a 14 year old girl... and I promised to call if there was any "trouble"!

I can report Steve was a "perfect gentleman" and my honor is intact! ;)

I think she's just a little too panicky about all the freaky people on the internet! No kidnapping, cat burning, maniac here...

Anyway Tedster, Steve mentioned he's originally from your neck of the woods... and that he occasionally vacations back there... if he gives you a heads up he's coming, make sure he brings his cool gold-top Les Paul. It's a beauty, and he's had it since the early 70's... but he's kept it in awesome shape. I know you're mainly a "strat-guy" but that LP is worth drooling over...

I'm still "guitplayer"!

I will be coming Tedsters way soon. I'll be in Topeka for a week at Thanksgiving and I'll spend at least one day in Kansas City, probably taking my girlfriend to see The Plaza and spending all my money

I'll give you a heads up Tedster when I go and if we can find a way during that hectic week I'd love to meet you and have lunch or something. BTW- I've seen what those airline baggage handlers do to luggage. I don't think my LP will be making the trip. :)

Very cool...I've met and collaborated with a lot of people over the net...the first time scared my wife too :)

I've had 4 people from different parts of the country stay the night at my house over night...people I would never have met if it weren't for the net.

I think that's really cool.

BTW, Guitplayer...dude, just let me know when you can bring that Carvin up here...depending on when...I can at least give you a large (over 70%) down payment. Don't sell it to anyone else unless you just absolutely have to.

We need to jam mang. If need be I might even be able to travel down there.

Steve...

Ja rule Mon!

My wife is planning to take the kids and leave me...

To go on vacation back in the UP where her family is from...

She leaves next Wed, and will be gone for about 2 weeks... that means that other than my daily work requirements I'm a virtual free agent. ;)

If you want to come down here to SD... I've got a cool place to play nights and weekends... maybe we could even lure some other players, (SteveRB and a drummer)... and have a fun little jam. :D

If that doesn't work for you... I could maybe swing up your way on a Saturday... didn't you say your brother's birthday is the weekend of the 27th (in the Lee goes to LA thread)? Maybe I (we) could even go see Lee and the guys?

Anyway... if you can give me 70% down... I'd be willing to leave the guitar with you, (with 2 id's, a post dated check, the keys to your car, and a 10 page contract written in blood)!!! :freak: or maybe just a handshake :thu:

Anyway let me know how your weekend looks on the 27th or the 1st one in August. After that, It'll be harder for me to get up there without the ball and chain and the kids... :D

My brother's birthday is in October...I can't remember who( ) but someone else mentioned a brother's birthday.

Let's go see Lee play...anything else is cool too...I'm not busy at all that weekend. My brother and I can come down to SD and play some time...maybe next month...

Just stay in touch until then, let me know what works for you.

Thanks for the trust...of course it's not necessary...both SteadyB and Dave Bryce (who could probably do the most damage) would kick my ass for you if I didn't pay. :) I should have the whole $600 by the 27th unless unexpected things happen and they do sometimes.

Look forward to meeting you.
