Chriss
Hallo guys. A few months ago I asked for opinions on Epiphone Les Paul Custom and Black Beauty and I recived a lot off good response. I needed a guitar to play some Fogerty songs ,tuned one step down to D. I have two Gibson Les Paul's,one is a '53 modified LP Gold Top with Dimarzio Super Distortion p.u's the other is a '78 Pro.Same as a LP de luxe but with P 100 p.u. They both sound very good but they don't have the sound as the Gibson Humbucker. Well, I went out to my local music shop and asked the guy to get me an Epi.After 14 days he told me that he could not buy one guitar from from the import company. If he ordered 15 it was no problem. Well,I could go to one of the big shops i the City,Copenhagen, but i like to support my local man, because he has been very helpfull to me over many years. He had a Epi Les Paul Elite (Custom with F-holes)on the wall, that I had played many times but I never thought of it,as a guitar that could do the job.I did like it and one day I went out ,tuned it down and played it and heard this lovely balance between low bass and bright treble. I thought this might work,a little surprised. We had a little discussion on price.A new Epi LP costs about 1000 Dollars here.My idea was that it was used sice he had on the wall for three years. His idea was that it was new and the only one who had used it was me ,since I had played every time I came to the shop.We ended up on a little over 400.Nice price. The next weekend I had two gig's with my band. The only thing I did was to clean the guitar and put on a set of Martin 00.10 and off we go.We use to start second set with Midnight special and I took the first chord and the guys in the band turned around looking at me with a face saying:What???? I had to take the chord three times. It was great.A beautyfull sound. Lots of bass and treble at the same time. And very clean. All the riffs on the low strings came through clean.Do I have to tell you that I am very happy about this guitar? It sure do the job. Fantastic guitar at a very low price. Well ,I also got a question for the Strat players here.I have a *98 Fender American Standart Strat with no-load tone.I don't use it much because there is significant change of tone when I roll the volume down.I never play with the volume on full on the guitar so it is very hard for me to balance my volume and tone with this guitar.I have now bought a handfull of capacitors to solve this problem. My question is:Where exactly do I place the capacitor and what value should it have and what other effects does it have to the sound?? Well this was a long story but I just want you to know that I am a very happy owner of a Epi LP Elite that rocks. All the best to you guys and thank's for your help. Chriss. Wickerman
Congrats! Those high end Epis are great. I must say, for around $550, it's hard to beat an Epi. I'm jealous of you for getting yours for such a GREAT price! Again, congratulations, I hope you have loads of fun with 'er.
fantasticsound
Congratulations, Chris. Glad you're enjoying your new toy. FYI, don't be hard on Epi concerning the minimum order requirements that kept you from ordering your original choice. Gibson doesn't conduct sales business outside the U.S. All Gibson and Epi products are sold to wholesale distributors in various countries worldwide. Although Gibson puts contractual obligations on the purchase of guitars by each distributor, it's the distributor that makes all sales and warranty service decisions within the territory they cover. Warranties direct from Gibson don't apply outside the U.S. It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Neil Bergman Soundclick fntstcsnd
whitefang
Epiphone is also having problems with stateside supply. There seems to be trouble with purchasing their Hummingbird and Songbird acoustic models. Dealers say they have difficulty in getting shipment from Epi for some reason. Whitefang I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left!
