DC
I like stainless steel much better than nickel for strings. They sound more zingy and electric to me and also seem to last a lot longer before going dead. Many don't like them because they eat up your frets quicker, but the sound just works for me. -David http://www.garageband.com/artist/MichaelangelosMuse
Gabriel E.
It very much depends on your guitar. Stainless steel strings have more "cutting power" - and more high end. Nickel strings generally have more of a warmm, rounded sound. One of my guitars is too shrill with stainless strings so I use nickel. Another lacks high end so I use stainless on it instead. If you're playing with a lot of gain/distortion, stainless is usually the way to go. lrbreez
I use nickel strings for their warm sound. Buddy
jef5f
I am in the nickel camp. The warmth and character of the string's tone suit me better. I play clean bassy jazz tones, and classic rock sounds. I love a lot of sustain and I get it better with nickel. Specifically, Gibson Les Paul Tone Tempered strings. Psalm 33:3 The best instrument you have, is your heart. lrbreez
I like the Gibson Les Paul strings too. I also use the Fender Super Bullet strings too. Buddy
Sylver
Fender Bullet Nickle Plated steel is a nice trade off. I just tries some DR blues all Nickle and I really liked them. Boomers(stainless) are nice, but they might be a touch bright for me. I really don't know what to put here.
