whitefang
As I am cruisin' through all these topics and replies, the radio started playing "Power of Love" by Hendrix & Band of Gypsies! Wouldn't it have been great to see where Jimi would have gone if he'd lived? What's goin' on with any of you as you're online here? Any good tunes playin'? Whitefang I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left!
kudyba
I'm listening to the new Tommy Lee CD which is surprisingly--GREAT! There's some very radio friendly stuff here...even a track with backing strings! Go figure...
SEHpicker
Hey Whitefang I hear yuh! I can only imagine what Hendrix would be doing with a guitar here on terra firma but wherever he is "you know they got a helluva band!" And speaking of some hellacious guitar pickin, I heard some guys on the radio the other day, according to the DJ they are a bunch of studio musicians that get together every year or two and cut a CD. Called the HELLICASTERS The song I heard sounded like Orange Blossom Special... only with guitars. They smoked. I'm going out to find their latest CD. I'm probably the only one around not familiar with these guys but if anyone can shed a little light, I'd like to know more. Skip_dup1
SEHpicker If that`s HELLCASTERS without the I, they have been in GP magazine regularly for as long as I can remember though I`ve never heard their music. Check the GP archives.
SEHpicker
Hey Skip. Yeah, that might be it. I thought they were saying "Hellicaster" as in "Telecaster" but the DJ didn't seem sure either. Thanks. jreilly37
It would be great to see what Hendrix could do now, it would also be great to see what Randy Rhoads could do too!! My Guitar Playing Kills Small Animals
not coaster MODERATOR
WWJD (what would Jimi do) if he were alive now? I would think he'd be on a smaller amp. Maybe get back to his Fender roots with a Tone King. He'd not care for the sound of newer Marshalls but keep a '72 and '69 Plexi around just in case. Hate to say it, but Jimi might be Pro Tools (not DP3 ) He would own a POD to practice on. He would drive a '69 Ford Galaxy and wear loose shirts with Bell bottom jeans. He would invite me to his house and let me sit in while he records. He would say things like "MrCereal, you're almost as cool as me" It's fun to dream

Thanks.I'm holding the CD you heard on the radio in my hand right now, "The Return Of The Hellecasters" by the Hellecasters. The "studio guys" are John Jorgenson, Will Ray, and Jerry Donahue. The 50's horror flick theme of the cover art is appropriate, these guys are scary they're so good. The whole CD is great, Orange Blossom Special is #7 on the CD. Get it, you'll love it.
