rip van winkle
whats up finally go around to registering. I was wondering about the power transformers, as I hope to build a marshall clone this summer. But, got some questions as to what type of tranny should I buy. -ever heard of handwound trannies? Are they okay? -Does bobbin material matter? -hammonds seems to be popular should I just use a hammond? What type of bobbin do they use? -What does the "300-0-300" or "275-0-275" refer to? The secondary voltage? Plate voltage? I what should I use for my marshall clone? -What about the secondary current? What should I look for? Is higher better? I beleive they used some where around 150mA. About OT -On the aiken amp site he explained that he uses custom OT, and that he will use over rated ones. So that when he runs full everthing dimed, RMS, he will not damage the OT. Should I be concerned with buying a over rated OT? I hope later down the line to possibly use different tubes. I hope to build it with kt66 in mind, but I believe kt66 are rated at 30 watts so does this mean I have to use a 60 watt OT? How, Why did marshall use kt66 in their jtm 45, which used a 35 watt OT, knowing that it will harm the OT? thanks for your time.
