O.K. ... some folks will whine this may be SPAM, or accuse me of being the owner of Groove Tubes or something, but I have been matching preamp tubes for my blueprinting clients for a long time now, and have been recently working with Groove Tubes on a project to do just that ... and we are finally there.

Its taken me a long time working with these folks to get "graded" preamp tubes, but it was worth the work.

On a test done over at Groove Tubes today (5/24/02) in a Model 1959 (100 watter), we had 15-18db more gain and a lot more distortion.

That is personal taste.

The guys in Megadeath use E34L-S with a #6 rating, but some folks like the Svetlanas for more of the original Marshall sound with less output. The Svets are 25 watt tubes and the others are 30 watters.

This kit is for more gain in the front end, and most Marshalls are way down from even the original gain as today's tubes are about 30% down from what was common 20+ years ago.
