low e string buz, how do i fix it?

this has been a problem ever sence i rented this fender accoustic, if i hit the E string at a moderatly hard force if will hit the frets and start buzzing which really sounds bad! how do i fix that!?!

You said you rented it. Turn it in and get a different one.

In leiu of that, putting on heavier strings will raise the action a bit.

Since it's a rental, you should take it back and have them do one or more of the following...

 

Check the truss rod settings to see if you have the correct "bow", adjust the saddle by a shim or putting in a new saddle... or as the Dak-man suggested, try some heavier strings.

 

Of course you could always rent one that doesn't buzz... :eek:

As others have said, obviously getting a different rental is the *first* choice. If, however, you can't do that, or if you ever have this with a guitar you on, I have found the best and easiest method for a single buzzy string is:

 

The nut. Either replace it - not too tough - OR fix the offending string by CAREFULLY (after putting masking tape around the first fret and such) filling in the notch for that string with a drop or 2 of CA (super) glue. The string will likely then be too HIGH, so you gently sand it with very fine file then fine sandpaper folded to form a "V" .
