My name is Navot

I'm going to buy soon this

From 1982

The guy asks for it 2800$

Does anybody knows more or less the worth of this guitar?

Consider She's in pretty good shape...

I would appriciate very much any help possible

Miles, as the pro around here,

Do you have a clue about that?

Thanks very much

Navot,

Maybe you could try to locate a few similar guitars on ebay? Look at "completed items" and you should be able to get an idea of what they're generally going for. If we're talking U.S. dollars, my best guess would be in the $1000 to $1500 range. Unless it's REALLY something special, $2800 is at least twice what it's worth in my opinion. Good luck!

Navot,

Are you purchasing it in Israel from a fellow Israeli? What is the Israeli dollar worth against the US dollar?

What I'm saying is that if the Israeli dollar was worth like 50 cents US, it might be a reasonable price. I don't know...what is it worth to you? Yes, I'd check on Ebay. I used to lust after a white LP Custom...actually, if I recall correctly, it was more of an ivory color, which made it even better in my opinion...

I'm STILL lusting over an Alpine White Les Paul...it has to be a Standard, though; and with cream-colored binding, pickguard, and pickup mounting rings. There's something about that cream-on-white color scheme that just makes me all warm 'n' fuzzy inside :D

Oh no! I'm afraid I might be engaged to your wife!!! ;) Too funny.

I think I've decided that my little skeletal friend is actually singing me a song. I find myself staring at him for hours (well, not really hours) trying to figure out what the words are... :freak:

Shalom Navot. If that's American money, $2800 is WAY too much. $1000-1500 is about right IF it's in great condition. Early 80's Gibsons are NOT "vintage" and don't command those prices.

For $2800 you could get a new Les Paul Standard or a PRS McCarty and have money left over.

Good luck.

Hey all you guys

Thanks a lot for the help,

Though you must consider there is a difference

between US prices and Israel prices,

a big difference.

For example the guitar I have now,

Fender Fat Strat american deluxe,

One that costs a 1000$ new in the US,

Costs in Israel 2000$,

So you see because of the taxes and everything.

But still , 2800$ is a lot of money,

Especially when you turn it to Israeli currency,

Which multiplies it by 5...

So once again,

Thanks and thanks and more thanks,

I needed to hear that it's too much from other people,

Best regards,

Navot

Hmmm...I smell a good black market business idea coming on. Hey, us Yanks have to arm ourselves, right? And who is better armed than the Israelis? So, we'll trade guitars for rocket launchers, and we'll be all set.

C'mere, Osama, lemme play you a song on my new "guitar"...bend over, that's right...here it comes...

Back in the late '70s, I had a cousin from Israel visit my family. She came with one suitcase half empty and returned home with it full of Levi's jeans in various sizes to sell.

Navot: "baruch haba". Prayers for peace to you and your family during this troubled time in Eretz Yisrael.
