Brian C
Hey, Miles - Can you suggest a good book to learn these things, like how the inverter section of an amp circuit WORKS, etc.? Thanks! Brian
JamesPeters
I'm no Myles, but I found a document on www.ax84.com that can explain the basic workings of a tube amp, the P1 theory document: http://www.fna.muohio.edu/ax84/media/ax84_m35.pdf This is just for the P1 (a single-ended class A amp) so it won't have anything about NFB or a PI, but it has most of what a person should know when trying to wrap their heads around building/modding an amp. For more info, this URL has links to many other sites with a lot of good info: http://www.ax84.com/links.html Have fun! http://petersamps.com Handmade tube guitar amps
Brian C
Thanks James! I will check it out - probably best to start with a chunk this size. BTW - right after I posted this question, I was loaned a copy of "The Tube Amp Book," which Groove Tubes carries/puts out. It's AMAZING - a LOT of info, history, great photos, etc. But a lot to absorb, so I appreciate the link! For those interested, the book is just coming out in a new edition, and is or soon will be available from Groove Tubes - there's a good chapter list at their website.
