michael saulnier
Welcome to the Forum... What style of music do you play and what other gear do you have? You probably know that both of these amps are designed to "model" classic amps... although they attempt to do this in different ways. The Cyber-twin is designed to change the type and order of pre-amp and tone stacks to give you the unique sounds of amps that feature those charactoristics. My personal opinion (and many others agree) is the weakness in this amp is the solid state power stage. No "powertube overdrive" sound is naturally generated. I think it's OK on Fenderish tones, but weak on Marshall or Mesa type sounds. (I think this would be a cool pre-amp in front of a tube amp.) The Vetta uses the latest digital processors to provide the "state of the art" digital modeling technology. Although this is very flexible, many people, (including me), feel it lacks the rich sounds and response to picking attack of a naturally overdriven tube amp. If the sounds you do get are "good enough" for you, this has far more options than the Cyber-twin imho. The "two amp" concept, (you can use two amp models and effects chains simultaniously) is pretty interesting... I'm curious to see how this evolves in a generation or two. Certainly most people see this as an improvement over the previous generation of modeling amps. I try not to be a close minded tube purist, (if these amps sounded better than tube amps I'd be one of the first to have one), but my ears don't convince me that they do. BTW, I was an early POD user, (and still have one for recording demo's, quiet practice and such), but I still can't see giving up my Fender HR Deluxe for a modeling amp... Maybe someday. My advice is to try these amps yourself, if you're happy with them... great. If not, wait and see... but let YOUR ears be the guide. guitplayer I'm still "guitplayer"! Check out my music if you like... http://www.michaelsaulnier.com
lrbreez
I really like modeling amps. How they sound compared to tube amps is more like "Is the glass half empty or half full". When you try them out go to the manual mode approach them like a regular amp. Don;t pay much attention to the presets. The best modeling map though is the Vox Valvtronics, it is very close to the real thing. Buddy
lrbreez
That should be modeling "amp" and not "map". Buddy
Chip McDonald
Vetta. Still has a funny thing going on in the high end, and the low end is "there" but still not linear to the amps it models. The Cyber-Twin is more like a Rocktron Voodoo Valve stuck into one of their Frontman line amp's power amp section. They did a great job (better than Line6) on their presets, though. It'd be very cool as a single space preamp though... lrbreez
I think Fender putting out a Cyber-Twim preamp would be great, too. Buddy

BuddyYeah, it makes sense, but from what I gather they're anti-rack mounted anything because it's ironically "not traditional to Fender".....
