ao1
I have an Fender Esquire. I was wondering how can I hot rod the pickup to get different sounds from the one pickup. Something when I move the toggle switch would give different sound.
Gabriel E.
Isn't that what the selector switch on an Esquire already does? Please correct me if I'm wrong: 1)the pickup through a treble-rolloff capacitor. 2)the pickup normal. 3)the pickup bypassing the volume and tone controls for an extra-hot tone. I don't think there are too many other options with just one single coil. If you replace it with a stacked humbucker, you can get a few more options (coils in series, parallel, tapped, etc.) but the hummer isn't going to sound like a traditional Esquire pickup. Dylan
Where did you find your Esquire, and how much would you expect to pay for one? I can't for the life of me find any info on these including Fender's website! I know they exist cause I saw them at NAMM.
ao1
I didn't give the full story. It's not an original Esquire. It's a 52' reissue that I removed the neck pkup, bought a solid pickguard from Warmoth and bought a Fender Custom Shop bridge pkup. I had read Fender had a few at NAMM, so I decided to put one together. This why I asked how to hot rod the pickup. If anyone knows the wiring, capacitor and anything else that needs to be done please share the info. I got the custom shop pickup via Ebay, so it doesn't have wiring instructions. DeluxeReverb
I think Seymour Duncan has the wiring and capacitor info on his website. You might check it out...or visit the Telecaster Discussion Page (www.tdpri.com) for all things Tele.
