rednettle
Hi there, I am really after some help. About a year ago i bought a second hand mesa boogie dual rectifier 100w head(the older version with the black front),I have been more than happy with it until recently. In the last month or so the clean channel has been feeding back hidiously, its not cool feedback but really nasty squeely noises, I think its something to do with the valves but i dont know which ones to replace, i have also noticed that the two rectifier valves do not seem to glow like the others. It is baffeling me as the distortion channel sounds fine, please help someone!!!!
tenton
It does sound like you have a bad tube/valve. Go to the mesa website www.mesaboogie.com and download the user manual for the dual rec. I'm sure there's info in there as to which tubes to check and the function of each one. Good luck!
Gabriel E.
Sounds like you have a bad preamp tube. Get a new 12AX7, and swap it out with each preamp tube. Play the amp each time until the you find the bad tube. Rectifier tubes don't glow like regular tubes. That's normal.
