I've seen the ads but I've never tried one. Godin guitars are pretty well made though - quality is probably on par with Gibson.

Check out the Carvin Holdsworth Fatboy too. I posted a review of it a few weeks ago. Very impressed.

I played a Flat 5 and an ES335 at Lakeshore Music in Burlington (I was interested in a jazz body as well). The Godin is very well made and has a great jazz sound. The Gibson, obviously, is well made but, is.....well..........rediculously expensive. I mean, it's not even funny. The Godin was almost 1/3 the price of the ES335. No way was the Gibson better than the Godin in playability and sound (IMHO). I'm getting the Flat 5. As a foot note here, I like Gibson and all, but man, they better do something about their pricing. Check out the cost of a new Les Paul lately?
except for the notes and chords, playing guitar is easy!

Amen. Gibson keeps jacking up prices as the high end Epiphone keep getting better over the last three-five years.

Mikeydfromgranny, I have not played a PRS Hollowbody, and only know PRS by reputation (which apparently is pretty good). I never searched one out to play, and I never really came across one in Burlington/Oakville/Toronto (I guess that makes them rare? or I wasn't looking in the right shops??).

Jazzcaster, you nailed it! In Toronto it's virtually impossible to find a PRS Hollowbody II.

I'd really like to put the Flat Five up against a HB II but it may be a moot point. For a considerable amount less, the Flat Five seems like a great value and I'm looking forward to checking one out in the next few weeks.

I actually own a Godin bass that I use for home recording. I'm a guitar player first and foremost, however, you would be amazed at the comments I get on it from bass players I jam with. They literally leave their's at home when they come over. It is a great instrument - plays well, excellent quality and killer tone!

By the way, how did the FF sound in (I'm assuming)single coil mode since it has a 5 way?
