Rivera makes great amps and they're not outrageously expensive. A lot of the used Riveras are bargains. They're very versatile as far as sound and you'll be hard pressed to find anything near the price that has the build quality of a Rivera.

I use a Peavey classic 30's, you'll never find a better sounding amp as cheap as this one. To me it was not even a money thing, I just fell in love with that sound. Go try it.... Go now....

I said GO!!!!!

If you want a great classic rock Marshall tone, and a lead channel that has tons of gain, check out a Peters amp. I see you also are from Calgary where James and I are from. James is a great guy who builds fantastic amps. My Peters amp should be ready next week and I'm totally pumped!!

They are completely hand built, point-to-point wiring with Sprague Atom and Orange Drop caps on a gorgeous polished-aluminum chassis. The tone is to die for.

Rivera makes EXCELLENT amps. If you can find one used in good cond. it'll be one of the best deals you can get. Otherwise, Carvin and Peavey make some good tube amps. From what I hear, the Fender Hot Rods sound pretty stinkin' good if you replace the tubes...

I'll never get rid of my Rivera. Sweet, loud little amp.

I did see a used Peavey Classic 30 at the local Music-Go-Round for $249. Nice little amp for a great price. If I had the extra cash laying around, I woulda got it. Nice backup for the Rivera.

I like the Marshall AVT series. It comes in different sizes and prices. Even the lower end ones have a nice distorted sound at low volumes. They're hybrid amps (tube pre-amp and solid state gain) which I'm partial to.

If I were to upgrade my ADA Viper, I'd get a Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier. ha ha. Realistically (no $ for a Mesa), I'd probably get an AVT 350? - the one that has an acoustic guitar simulator (haven't heard it yet, though).

aka riffing
