stringracer
Recently, I have been listening to a lot of smooth jazz. In particular, Fourplay with Lee Retinour and his solo works. I have been dicovering that I can play the same progressions I've learned from my rock influences (Satriani, George Lynch, Vai, Van Halen) and playing them on my nylon/electric with no problem adjusting it to a different style guitar. The outcome has been some phenominal smooth-jazz type playing. Softer tones and more melodic approaches, but same scale attacks and riffs. Anyone else finding this to be true. I've posted some examples of this and will be posting more at www.mp3.com/glen_poland . Interested in listening to anyone elses works as well and sharing ideas. jtk
Hey Stringracer, It's Jeff from www.Live1on1guitarlessons.com jeff@live1on1guitarlessons.com I'm not too clear on your question or statement but Smooth Jazz will compare to Progressive Rock in some ways?...I think the harmonic depth or complexity of the chord progressions will determine how similar the two styles are.
