funky
Hey Everyone, I'm not spamming you. I have no affiliation with the software company. I just couldn't believe I hadn't seen this tab program before, and one of my guitar students gave me the web site, so I thought I'd pass it on to you. If you've ever written guitar tab, you know it can be a pain if you're using a computer. I've been using "Finale" by "Coda Software" for years, but "Tabledit" is written from the guitar players point of view. You enter the tab on the tab staff, and it writes the music above for you. It's incredible. The printouts are awesome, and the interface is very user friendly. It can convert midi files into tab and notation, and it's very fast. Just thought I'd turn you guys on to it. Mr. Dan Licks
Hi Brett, Greetings from Vienna. Thanks for the tip. Dig your site, and your tunes! Nice playing. funky
Wow Dan. What are the chances of someone across the world finding a link on a bulletin board that took him to a website for a music school where his nephew is a student? That's amayzing. Have fun in Europe. fantasticsound
Brett, when I worked there, a friend at Gibson Guitars turned me on to tabledit last year, but I've dragged my feet and haven't really used it yet. Can you give me any helpful hints as to shortcuts or features? It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Neil Bergman Soundclick fntstcsnd

If you want your notes to sound correct during playback, it's important to have a good understanding of rhythm and notation so you can put the note durations in properly. It has sharpened my ear training skills. Getting a song to sound correct on the computer is fairly tough, especially if you're just writing the tab from memory. But I'm having a blast with it, and I plan to put all of my hand written tab, that I use to teach my students, into the program for a nicer printout, and to check my writing. Check back to this thread and I'll post a couple of songs that I tabbed with this program and exported to a .gif file. Let me know how they printout after conversion and transfer, if you have the time. http://brettfunk.com
