not coaster MODERATOR
Isn't that an 8-voice chorus? Have you heard it? I don't think Marshall still makes it.
Beagle1
Cereal - AKAIK, the JFX1 design was actually based on Lexicon's stuff. I don't think it has an 8-voice chorus. But the quality of the chorus, delay, and reverb is supposed to be excellent for a box with 16-bit converters. Like the Rocktron gear, it can be set so that it always maintains an analog dry signal which gets mixed with the digital FX. I've actually been hunting around for a cheap JFX myself...will write more if I find one.
Chip McDonald
It was pretty dark and ... hmm.. "ART" sounding if I recall... I'm really only concerned with the stomp box situation, since I know the Intellifex does it (and I have one)... Digitech made this really cheapo rack mount multieffects about 2 years ago - I can't remember the name of it, but it had a "volume swell" preset in it that, while not sounding as rich as the Intellifex/8 voice, it *did* have a neat swirl to it that sounded thicker than just a single voice delay modulated. The Quadraverb 4 was neat. Actually, I used to use a Quadraverb II set with one of the reverb patches excessively long; I still kind of prefer that, because it sounded like the same *kind* of effect, but not just like AH. I wish I hadn't had to sell that unit because of that sound; I'd love to chain that in with the Intellifex to sort of make it a little more unique sounding. Actually, I think Jeff Buckely was thinking along the same lines, because I swear some of his ambient stuff sounds like an old Quadraverb... I see Intellifexes going for $250-ish quite often, you should be able to find one for less than what the Yamaha pedal will be going for if you don't mind the rack mount. If you get the chance, try it the way Holdsworth used to do it, with different discrete modulating delays, parallel summed through a mixer - much richer sounding. Even cheap and yucky delays - old Effectrons and even Digitech 128's modulated - sound cool mixed together as discrete voices.
