Crap! I just bought 2 tube amps from a co-worker!

One of 'em is an old Carvin X-60B. This one's a known quantity for me since I've owned a Carvin X-100B halfstack since the mid '80s. The other one, though, is a Trace Elliot Velocette...I don't know Jack about it. It's a class A tube amplifier and, from lookin' around on the web, it looks to have gotten some praise in the press when it was being made (1998-2000?). Super-simple design: volume, tone, "bright" switch, and one 10" Celestion. Anybody know anything about it? I've been reading on Harmony Central about some possible reliability issues with 'em...cheesy output transformer. Hell, I bought them without even listening to them...the guy here at work was hurting for cash so I just gave him $300 for both. OK, now I'm gonna run home and play with my new toys!!! I'll check back here later. Thanks!

Man, you're not kidding about the Velocette! I can't believe how good it sounds. I've been messing with it for three hours now. It's gotta be the loudest 15 watts I've ever heard and it breaks up SO nice. It's in absolute mint condition too...really looks cool. It's got a dark green (almost looks black) covering and chrome corners and accents...and green & black grill cloth. A beautiful looking and sounding little amp and no sign of any problems so far.

I was wrong about the Carvin...it's an X-30. I didn't even know they'd ever produced a 30 watt X-amp. Shows how much I paid attention before buying it. That thing is no slouch either. The clean channel seems much more "Fendery" than my X-100B's. I really, really like the clean sound. The gain channel is pretty much a carbon copy of my X-100B...kinda ho-hum but it'll get the job done.

I'm ecstatic with my purchase. I feel like I got an okay deal for a change.
