TurboDog
First, it was the year I was born. Second, take a look at who put out albums in 1969... Led Zeppelin (2 albums actually) Cream Bob Dylan The Who The Doors Blind Faith Santana The Beatles The Kinks The Rolling Stones. Is that an all star cast or what? Hippie
..and they put a man on the moon that year and those '69 American muscle cars were at the height of power. In two days, it won't matter.
retroguitarist
2 things, woodstock and the number 69 hahahahahahahaha. BTW i dont think jimi made an album in 70 didn't he die shortly after the beggining of 1970?
Tedster
I believe Jimi died in Sept. of 70. '69...Abbey Road. A lot was happening in '69. It all seemed new, exciting, interesting...and it all died in the disco 70s. "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"
Virtual Jim
Ain't it funny how no one remembers the throwaway pop garbage that happened in any given year? 1969 has some skeletons, but then again so do 1981, 1986, 1991, 1999, etc...

DC
In 69 I was short, fat, and jamming on my Harmony F-hole with a record player that featuring one massive 4" speaker. I'm pretty sure I was learning Beatles, and Monkees at the time. Bob Keelan
Well I always thought people were kinda partial to the music of their high school days. 1969 was the beginning of that era for me. AM was on the way out, FM was the bomb! During 69-73 we had: at their peak: The Stones The Who Deep Purple Jethro Tull Led Zeppelin Van Morrison The Band CCR the best of the post-Beatles solo stuff newcomers: James Taylor Billy Joel Elton John Bonnie Raitt Santana CSNY Eagles Allman Bros. Rod Stewart plus probably a bunch of others I've neglected to mention. not too shabby eh? bob

Kendrix
In that year I personally: Saw the Stones at the garden in NYC - (see footage from ginmme shelter) Hendrix at downing stadium NY (in a festival that included Tull, Steppenwolf, and...hmm my memory seems a bit fuzzy....) Zeppelin at the garden - I actually shook Pages hands as I was being crushed against the stage. First year I met Mary J First year I did the nasty (Dad, thanks for the safety device I stole from your drawer). Its all been downhill from there. henrysb3
Spent the summer in Paris as a student, watched the moon landing on TV's placed in French store windows (it was the middle of the night there). Got married the first time Dec. 20, '69. Took a lotta trips, but aside from Paris, didn't get far from Kansas. And I think that was the year I won the lottery - the draft lottery. Otherwise, I probably would have been crossing paths with Dak on my way to SE Asia... He not busy being born Is busy dyin'. ...Bob Dylan

Rim
I was born in '66 but I wish I was born in the early 50's. I have always loved 60's music and regret never having seen the Beatles live (although I've read most of their concerts were screaming matches and you couldn't hear the music anyway). I did see the Broadway show "Beatlemania" in the and Paul McCartney in concert. Peace Y'all...Awww shucks...back atcha. In '69 I was twelve years old. We'd just moved that summer from the little town of Colonial Beach Virginia (east of Fredericksburg) to Port Huron, Michigan. We were staying in some cabins, waiting for the family to move out of the house we'd bought. No TV (it was with the movers), but the folks who owned the cabins were nice enough to let us watch the moon landing with them. I didn't turn eighteen until '75, by which time the war was over.
