A pretty amazing guitar !!!

There is a guitar maker out there in the world, that a lot of folks don't know about. His guitars are about 1/3 the cost of anything even remotely close in tone or quality.

If you ever priced an ES-175 or L-5, take a look at these.

I have a link over to him now on my website as I have been talking to them about an amplifier they are getting ready to put into production.

Yeah Myles, I wrote to Dave & requested the demo cd he has available so you can hear what those guitars sound like. I had it within a week. Absloutely awesome. I'll be ordering one of his guitars as soon as I can but I'll be getting one of his pickups first to replace the Fishman on my Guild.

Those guys at Ozark have some really nice goods.

daklander,

I just got the CD yesterday but my wife grabbed it and would not let it go.

I finally listened, and I have to agree with you, pretty great. Then again, I can usually "hear thru" the recording process and I am sure the guitars and his electronics sound even better live.

Sylver,

One thing to keep in mind, is that he is selling direct, so there is no store markup. A Fender guitar, or a Gibson etc., is an "A" mark item, meaning a $1000 retail guitar costs the store $500.

So .... when these guitars hit the retail stores, you are looking at $1200, rather than the $600. At that point, the stores won't want direct sales anymore, so if you can scrape up the cash now, it may be a good investment, as once the word gets out on these, the prices will surely go up I'd think. Compare it to a $3500 PRS hollowbody, and even at half that price, its still a pretty sweet deal. ... and, its not a mass produced instrument that shows up on every music TV show around.

Tedster...

That was a great movie, but then again, people think I am sometimes a dork because I think Caddy Shack should have received an Oscar....

I mean .... the special effects .... Mr. Gopher, and who is a better actor than Bill Murray? And as far as a musical song .... Chevy Chase singing on the Fender Rhodes piano ... "I was born to love you, I was born to lick your face" .... (can't top that in most movie soundtracks), and the suspense of the pool scene .... I mean that movie had it all!

Airplane was also a classic!

Hahaha.

Wow. Those guitars look amazing.

What I am confused about is, what is an electro- acoustic? Is it sort of half hollow and half pickuped? I dont get it. maybe I never will :D

Could someone explain?

Nolly- here's a photo from the website....these are rough carved body blanks, from SOLID western red cedar. While the side profile of the guitar is about 1 1/2" thick, the actual thickness of the wood through the center, under the bridge, is about 5/8"...the back is "hollowed out"...this contributes a considerable amount of body resonance, while still being able to reject a lot of feedback problems.

The piezo bridge pickup responds to the body resonance, in addition to the neck magnetic picking up string vibrations.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. I record my acoustics as often as I can in my home and when I play out, with mic & pick up, so I know what one sounds like either way and the recorded sound of these guitars makes me believe there is no better system for a solid body guitar that really does sound acoustic. I've had people try to guess whether it's a hollow body or solid body & they can't tell. They all think it's hollow body. I mean, I get the feeling that with this guitar, and the right amp, you could dial in a sound that is pure acoustic guitar to that hollow body, arch top electric. Fits my music perfectly & pretty much kills the feedback problem with mic'ing an acoustic.

The other thing I'm waiting for is that new amp they're working on. If they get that figured out, Whew!
