701dennis
I'm looking to buy an amp that's not less than 40 watts, not more than 50 lbs,is all tube and has a sound that is a little on the bright side of things(although not fender twin kind of bright). In other words something that tends to be a little more clean that dirty. Can someone recommend one? thanks
Boggs
That sounds EXACTLY like what I am selling... my Carvin X60A. It is the predecessor to the MTS series. It is a medium+ gain 3-channel amp with OUTSTANDING clean tone. It does roll off the highs a bit on hard overdrive, but it has active bass, mid, and treble tone controls plus a presence control. Reverb is spring type (and really sweet sounding), is 60w tube, 1x12 with British Series speaker and is switchable between 4, 8, and 16 ohm impedences. I built a rack setup which rests on top of it for effects and such and the two together don't weigh 50lbs. It has a triple footswitch for remote selection of either of its 3 channels and reverb. It really is a kick-ass amp... and it is on casters. I am selling it because I use a lot of piezos, and I have to play up to 4 instruments at a gig, so I am going the powered mixer route. This way I can have them all plugged in and EQed individually. SS is better for piezos and acoustic guitars than tubes. I will get a good OD stompbox or tube emulator to handle distortion. Wickerman
Yeah, Bogg's has a good amp. I'd suggest that or a new Carvin Nomad or Bel Air. They're great amps. $500 and the Nomad is VERY light. Great clean and amazing dirty. It's just a beautiful amp. Carvin.com
