Wickerman
Well, I played two Rics, a couple Gretschs, a great Alvarez electric, a bunch of Fenders, Epiphones, a couple low end ($1000-$1200 Vs and Explorers) Gibsons, an Ibanez and a few basses I was looking at. I decided to get a Fender Std Telecaster. I've got $750 left and I'm selling a couple things on E-Bay so I'll prolly have around $900 in a couple weeks. I might get one or two more guitars or maybe a nice acoustic. Who knows! I'll decide when that time comes. Anyway, yay! New toy. ... I should get some good effects pedals... Jedi
Congrats!!!! Wickerman. I think the tele is a great choice. What kind of pick ups are in it? If it was me, I would not hesitate. Throw some Tex Specials in there pronto. Just my no cents, if had any cents, I'd be getting myself a new toy. Enjoy, my brother. Namaste Jedi "All conditioned things are impermanent. Wickerman
I hadn't thought of replacing the pickups... I might put a DiMarzio red velvet (my favorite single) in the neck and a Texas Special in the bridge. That'd be cool. Thanks for the idea. I hadn't given it any thought. The coolest thing about it is that it's a Color match with my Strat and also has EMG's in it. How cool would that be, to have a matching Strat and Tele? Jack I really don't know what to put here. TurboDog
Man, I wish I had an extra $1000 right now. What would I do with it....hmmmmmm? First, I need a good 2x12 cabinet. Probably get a great used one for $400. Maybe spend the other $600 on an old Fender. Then again, I need another guitar so....maybe look into a semi-hollow Tele with a piezo in the bridge. Or a second hand Ernie Ball. Or an elecric/acoustic Godin. $1000 will get you an awesome used acoustic. Or, I could get my old '78 280Z up and running again. What to do, what to do. Wickerman
The Guitar Center where I live has three vintage strats ranging from a mid-70s (not sure exact year) a 68 and a 80s Jap! Whoa! Nice guitars. The '68 has a strange neck... It's akin to an Ibanez Wizard.
michael saulnier
Wickerman, Congrats on your new guitar. Ahhh... the honeymoon period... You asked about what's next? I've noticed from your posts that you've tried and like Carvin products. I think you have one of their amps... I have two Carvin guitars, one a 1/2 inch flamed Koa topped DC135 that is incredibly beautiful and plays great, the other a white AE-185 that I replaced the pickups with a Duncan '59 in the neck and a JB in the bridge. It has the in-line headstock and plays and sounds awesome as well... I live and work about a mile from the factory and I handpicked both these guitars from their wall of displayed guitars... both are less than 3 years old. Anyway, I've decided to pare down my collection, and would prefer to have these babies in "good hands"... and would be willing to make a great deal for a MP forum member... so if you're interested in learning more, send me an e-mail and I'll give you the details... guitplayer I'm still "guitplayer"! Check out my music if you like... http://www.michaelsaulnier.com
