AlChuck
After many years of wanting an archtop, but quailing at the price of a Gibson or Guild, I finally decided, based on a review or two and hearsay, to try the Cort Larry Coryell model (the LCS-1, list price about $1500, but can readily be found for half that). Perhaps I should wait a little longer to let the brand-new guitar luster wear off, but this is one excellent guitar at an incredible price. It plays and sounds as good, if not better, than most archtops I have tried over the years, including a friend's ES-175 and my former guitar teacher's L-5. The sound is warm, detailed and very even. Cort is definitly the best quality/price ratio those days, and I'm soooo happy with my Cort SJ3F Jumbo. BTW, Larry Coryell is REALLY playing his Cort, this is not fake endorsement like many others ... Guitarzan
i agree guys. i recently owned a mgm1 , the matt guitar murphy model. this guitar made the gibsons i seen last week at my local music store look like low end models. seriously! i seen 4000 dollar gibsons that had filler around the inlays ( headstock and neck) and horrible orange peel on the headstock as well. what i seen was from normal viewing distance( about 8 feet)! my cort had only minor binding flubs. you had to get very close to see! and when i played my cort for the first time i could not find anything to justify the difference in price of the les paul i tried earlier. honest!why don't i still have the mgm? i just can't hang with dual humbuckers and a set neck, i like my "strat" tones and the twang called me back. i could have kept it but it isn't me. but i sure know that was a steal for anyone looking for a lp sound with a little extra.cort is amazing , even on the low end of their lineup. why do people think where a guitar is made makes any difference? i thought quality materials and workmanship made good guitars( don't forget design). so ..enough of my rant..congrats on your new cort , may you enjoy the music it brings!! http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=193274 rock it, i will
