Damn callouses...

*itches fingers* Theyre very sore. Probably lack of callouses. hmm. *falls over*

I think I am tired. I perhaps need sleep. mmm... no. More guitar sounds good.

Gotta love playing one string over and over until you get it right. Damn 'teach yourself guitar' books. Still - it is fun - in a painful kind of way.

*sigh*

I dont know why I posted this.

Does it always hurt this much? I know you get callouses, but do they really do THAT much? Ow.

This too shall pass. I would advise that first you make sure that you can tune it correctly...then work on open chords...changing open chords.

For now, if you're trying to play single note lines, work in terms of patterns across multiple strings...say within a four or five fret "block". You will eventually go beyond that, but for now.

Once you get a bunch of open chords down, then you'll be able to progress to barred chords.

And, even if you can't afford steady lessons, find a teacher who plays somewhat in the style you want to learn and take an occasional lesson, just to point you in the right direction. Trust me, it'll be worth your while...

Goodie. :P

Tedster: Ah, okay. I have 2 friends who have played guitar for 6 months... one of them actually plays, taught himself from book and teacher, and is actually really good - in just 6 months. The other, well... lets just say he spends more time on the net than ME, and it sits behind him, never really being used.

I will be talking to nathan (the friend who plays well) about things like this, and I've borrowed the same book he started on... hes onto the 3rd book in the series now or something. its that Guitar Method: Beginner (book 1) book... aint too bad.

But yeah. it starts on one string and moves to the next. I'm not sure wether I should stay on one string and keep going till its perfect, or buzz through until they start playing things with multiple strings... hmmm...

*thinks*

Any suggestions?
