Jim Soloway
I've been doing some research into having some custom tooling done to build what I consider to be the perfect 7 string. Needless to say, having any kind of custom tooling, even when it's programmed, is expensive and doing it for one guitar looks like it may be prohibitively expensive. Anyone else interested. www.solowayguitars.com
Gator Wing
No thanks. 6 strings is more than enough for me. There are two theories about arguing with a woman. Neither one works.
rog951
I SHOULD be (cuz I like the way they sound), but I'm really not, for some strange reason... None more black.
Mark Zeger
I just noticed (in a Fender catalog) that Benedetto makes a couple nice 7 strings, a hollowbody and a solidbody. Ever see or try one?
TurboDog
Hey Jim, glad to see you posting here as well as HC. I haven't ever really tried a 7 string. I'm sure the wider neck takes some getting used to. I will be starting a project guitar in about 2 weeks. I'm gonna build the body myself. Problem is, I can't decide what type of guitar it will be yet. I was thinking about a solid-body acoustic with a piezo in the bridge. Maybe even nylon strings. This would require a slightly wider neck. Maybe an archtop with a coil-tap bucker at the bridge. The wood (walnut) is beautiful, and I don't want a ton of pickups and switches to blotch it all up. Anyway, I'm looking forward to starting it. If you build your own 7 string, there are a few websites you should check out. I'll get them to you if you're interested.
