strat0124
Without getting super technical, you have an amp.....you did some basic mods to improve the perceived tone......what amp, and what mods? I'll start with one of mine that seems to get alot of conversation.....a Blues Jr. The basic mods were swapping the speaker to a Weber C12B, and swapping out the tubes with some JJ's. I have the lower rated ones that breakup a little quicker. The overall result? Tighter sound, way better bass response, and it breaks up really sweet, sounds like a Blackface Deluxe at times, Voxlike, and kinda Marshall'y depending on the guitar and how much I tweak it. This is a roots rock/blues amp, I've gigged with it alone before, and its killed everytime. Down like a dollar comin up against a yen, doin pretty good for the shape I'm in
JamesPeters
JCM800--bias the gain stages hotter by changing the cathode resistors to lower values (experiment to see how it sounds on each stage, except the CF and PI stages of course)...add bypass caps or change their values for more/less "cut". Great amp to mod (2204/2203). http://petersamps.com Handmade tube guitar amps
