Nollykin
Yaaay! I do believe I may have found the one. The Ibanez SA60 (GSA60 over in america). I was right - the annoying salesman at the local store does have SA60's. And I tried one out without an amp an hour ago. I liked it. Felt... strong (definate) vibrations on the head when chords were strummed, and the tome was really really nice and clean. I actually *marvelled* at the cleanness... compared to my mates samick and yamaha, this guitar absolutely kicks ass. Ohh... I feel all tingly. I even have a haggling plan all made up. Allans music (the big name in music stores here in aus) are willing to take 70 dollars off the price if you order online. If I say "look here mate. I can get it for 499 over the net from allans. I would PREFER to buy locally though, yanno? keep it in the town? So... I'll be happy as long as I can get a little something off the price." I know, he cant lower as far as a big nationwide store, but he can sure as hell lower it a bit. and god dammit, I'm'a gonn'a make'a him'a do it. Ohh... my first electric. I still feel all tingly. *bounces around* yippie! Thanks soooooooo much to everyone who helped. Fucken... now I gotta get the dough for it. *starts thinking about money making schemes* Yours truly, One very happy Nolly (this must be the magic of music...) Wickerman
I don't think the profanity was necessary but I'm glad you found a guitar you really like. Congrats!
Nollykin
oh... sorry. Yes... my apologies. I was just really... erm "flippin" happy. Once again, apologies. I was just... really happy and wanted to share that - noone else around here seems to care - and I'm a people person. Maybe I should tone it down - I am getting annoying. Wickerman
It's all good. Profainity is just looked down on here as far as I've seen.
TurboDog
Sounds like you found a guitar that "spoke" to you. Good deal. Most of the Ibanez's that I've played, from top of the line to bottom, played real easy. Perfect for your first axe. Did you play a bunch of guitars? If so, and that's the one you dig, jump on it. And I wouldn't let a few dollars get in the way. You'd like to start a great relationship with that guitar shop, so I wouldnt be too stubborn with price. After all, you may be buying more gear from them in the future. And I don't mind a little profanity in the least. Sometimes it's downright necessary. Wickerman
I played a few Ibanez that I really liked. I love their basses but I played AR250, IC300 and a RG570s that I was quite impressed with. The Iceman was just cool. It has a sweet look and decent sound. Nothing spectacular but it was only $450. The AR250 was my kinda guitar. Elegant body, hard tail, great clean tone but didn't get noisy when you put some hard distortion on it. It was real nice. The RG570 was sweet but I don't really like double locking vibratos all too much. The guitar sounded good and with the Floyd Rose it'd be a killer metal guitar but that's not my thing. I'm talking one of my friends into getting it then I'll just borrow it from him. He loved his Charvelle (H-S-H PUP setup w/ Floyd, exactly like the 570) but he put .13s on it trying to sound like SRV and the .13s put so much tension on his vibrato that it ripped the sucker off. So, now he's down to an import Hamer and a 70's Gibson Les Paul. He really wants something to replace "Elvira" (the Charvelle) and when I took him to Guitar Center and handed him an Ibanez RG570, he fell in love. It's a little hotter than Elvira but it sounded good, he loved the wizard neck (who doesn't!) and it had the H-S-H and Floyd Rose just like his Charvelle so I think he'll prolly end up getting it. Nollykin
Once again, Wick, TurboDog, you come through for me I still need to try out other guitars - but seeing as I dont really know how to PLAY much guitar right now - I have trouble - I dont really know what "my" guitar is. I am trying. I am - like I said, going to Allans music - big store - on staurday - so I will try as many guitars as I can there, and try to find one that really grabs me. But yeah, it could be difficult. I should probably borrow my friends guitar for friday, and learn some of the chords I will be likely to use... and memorise tham, so I can try them out on guitars on saturday. That would be a decent idea, right? Woah. long paragraph... *spins out* Nolly "Money, Bitchez and Cheese!" http://www.playspoon.com/nollykin/files/voxline.gif "I never thought about it, and I never stopped to feel - But I didn't want you telling me just what to think was real. Nollykin
when I said "my" guitar, I meant "my" style. However, I have an idea of what it is - look at the amp post to myles "Money, Bitchez and Cheese!" http://www.playspoon.com/nollykin/files/voxline.gif "I never thought about it, and I never stopped to feel - But I didn't want you telling me just what to think was real. Wickerman
Well, the GSA60 (S60 over there) is a good guitar. If you can find something else that really grabs you, sweet. Just don't feel like getting an GSA60 is settling. It's a solid guitar...
Nollykin
I figured as much also wick - but I havent tried any others, yet. And the SA60 is pushing my budget as it is - I think its the best I'll get for the price. but yeah "Money, Bitchez and Cheese!" http://www.playspoon.com/nollykin/files/voxline.gif "I never thought about it, and I never stopped to feel - But I didn't want you telling me just what to think was real.
