Can you restate the problem as I do not remember what it may have been?

You can also email me if I don't answer too quickly as I will get no email notification from this subject.

It's true, there are Newfies everywhere!!!!! That's awesome. There's only about 400 000 people here in the whole province but it seams that people living everywhere are from the rock. If there's 6 billion people in the world...I swear, 2 billion are really Newfies. Nice to have ya here.

hey BoneDog, i see from another post, that you worked at a custom shop for 5 years, too cool, where was that? tell me more.

It was a place called Griffiths Guitar Works. The owner of that shop also owns Garrison Guitars, a company with a brand spankin' new method of making acoustic guitars. The bracing, kerfing and binding are all the one piece and they are a glass-composite injection mold. It takes 45 seconds to make this. This rocks in the sense that it's a huge amount of labor time cut out, everything's connected so there's massive resonance, strength is greater than traditional designs... Also, there is NO plywood used in any of the guitars even though they are reasonably priced. If you get a chance to play one....do it. They've had a booth at NAMM every year for the past 3 years and will be there from now on. I remember building prototypes of new designs for last years show.....no sleep for days.

BTW, when you come back you'll definately have to be properly screeched in....with Screech. I'm glad I was born here and never had to go through the whole ritual, I'd puke...I think. Where were you when you were here, just Marystown or were you in St. John's as well?

hey scott! yeah , i know all about grifiths and garrison, i read way too much..ha. yeah i even put a resume in there a year ago, i loved it so much up there. my wifes uncle is self employed selling and recording newfy music, maybe you heard of him, Junior Walsh? well both him and his son told me about griffiths, i asked because i read an article about young success stories, and after a little surfing here and there i had some more info. i have been spreading the word about garrison in my area, actually there are 2 dealers here now. i think the griffithsABS is too cool, smart guy! are you still in the business? well we pretty well stayed in the area, i didn't have alot of time to get to more places, maybe next time. as for the screech, i will probably puke too, i am more of a beer guy.did you get to go to namm? by the way i t was a wild trip when we came up , left the valley 8:00 am , drove to sydney( 6.5 hrs) waited 2 hrs for the ferry( the fast baby!) hit NFLD about 9 at night, drove straight through till 11 the next day! i now know i should have taken the other ferry to St.Johns and had a shorter drive!on the way i tried to video tape 3 moose, but i was so burnt i hit the record button twice and all i captured was a foot. i had it on pause when i had them in the camera, and had it on record when it was pointing at my foot!! bright huh? the wife and 4 yr old were pretty green from the fast ferry( max mohl) but my 6 yr old laughed his ass off because he couldn't walk without falling down, it was a cool ride for me!!

It sounds like your output tubes are going bad. The sound is a giveaway and the blown fuses would be a recfifier when a tube rectifier is used, but once a rectifier is bad, its bad all the way.

Replace your two output tubes with some new EL-84LS's from either Groove Tubes or Eurotubes.

Let me know what happens next, and email me if you need any more help.

Hey thanks for the suggestion. before I do it, let me say this.

I replaced them before to some new mesa's (which were not that great btw) and it sounded better for a few minutes then did it again. could that be the result of a bad OPT? Also, the Sovtek EL84s have a couple burnt looking spots- bad tubes or just broken in?

I appreciate your help.

Oh, sorry to disappoint the others but my SC is in Sask. Later!

Hey Boyd,

It's cool that you already know about the company. I don't work for them anymore, well I never did "really" work for Garrison, just for Griffiths Guitar Works and I was borrowed sometimes to give a hand in crazy times like pre-NAMM. The reason I don't work for them is cause I was gonna move to Halifax last year with my band Gearbox so we could have a place to work from. Anyway, to make a long story short, it didn't happen and I was after leaving the place. Now in my day job I do systems design for a pro video/audio/data communications company. I like working with corporate clients who have cash to spend and know what they want. It's also good that I get to put my education to use other than recording/doing broadcast audio/movie stuff etc, which I do in all of my spare time.

So you had a good time here, yeah it's a fairly cool place and really beautiful....we take it for granted I guess. I dunno, everywhere is beautiful when you're not used to it. I love driving through Cape Breton in the fall...it's awesome.

I don't think the Max Mohl is running anymore, it just ran for like 1/2 that summer, then they moved it I believe...

So what do you do in N.S.? Are you originally from there? Inquiring minds want to know. It's cool to meet someone else on the boards that's close to here!

cool , cool. well i am originally from ottawa, moved when i was 3, been in N.S forever. i work for michelin tires canada at the waterville plant. good work for around here. married with two young boys(who are really cool), Brett and Benjamin. guitar is more of a sanity thing now. hard to find people who play for the love of it. i play through my pod to keep the peace . the last i played with the guys was a year ago, we have a problem with drummers ( think spinal tap) are you still with gearbox? well i am a bit of a info sponge, always surfing , reading and checking out guitars, its sort of my passion. its real cool finding locals on this forum.

chow for now
