Scott Fehl
I have a 62' American Tele RI that is only a few months old. Of all my guitars I like the action and feel of it the best (vintage neck, etc). Anyways, on the 14th fret there is a nick/groove inline with one string, so I would like to have it replaced. The one place I have spoke about this is recomending to refret the entire neck!!!! I really like how it plays and want to leave it alone for fear of it being made worse. I think that since there are not any other problems, the frets are new, and the fret in question is rather far up the neck, that it would be fairly easy to replace and crown a new one only at the 14th and have it match the exsisting ones. Any comments??? I am wrong???

baronedo
Get another tech. No tech of good integrity would recommend refretting the entire neck because of one bad fret, unless all the frets were severely worn. My first used Strat I bought had one bad fret that was too low which caused buzzing in one location . An honest tech replaced it for $20 and the guitar was totally fixed.
