Wewus432 Posted February 15, 2003 Posted February 15, 2003 I've always been fascinated by symbols, read Carl Jung on the subject, studied Tarot cards, the I Ching, mythology. Lately I posted some threads about Dolphins, Turtles, Robots, and Leprechauns and I realized these things have an underlying meaning to me. If I were to develop my own set of personal tarot cards these creatures could be part of it. Dolphins could represent primordial depth, nonverbal knowledge. Robots could represent mechanization, dehuminazation, Leprechauns, evil in nature, not sure about turtles. Another symbol that I find evocative of something deeper is The River, which represents to me, the flow of life, the fluidity of time. I guess what I'm imagining is a personal tarot card system of symbols that would have more immediate meaning to me. I've always found something about the tarot symbols very foreign, but even if you don't believe, or aren't interested in fortune telling the symbols in the tarot are fascinating. Do you have any personal symbols such as I was talking about? Dolphins, Turtles, Robots, and Leprechauns. Oh yeah, I think TheWewus would correspond to the tarot card-The Fool. :D
Salyphus Posted February 15, 2003 Posted February 15, 2003 Man and His Cymbals is a great read. Ba-da-bum
Mats Olsson. Posted February 15, 2003 Posted February 15, 2003 Some robots are good. I have a little robot, it keeps parts of the business running (CD-R duplication) when I'm doing other stuff. /Mats http://www.lexam.net/peter/carnut/man.gif What do we want? Procrastination! When do we want it? Later!
Wewus432 Posted February 15, 2003 Author Posted February 15, 2003 Wouldn't you feel better if you burned those CD's by hand though?
Tedster Posted February 15, 2003 Posted February 15, 2003 Interesting. If you were to come up with your own set of tarot cards, what would they have on them (I guess is the question). In addition to yours...how about: The Woman With The Big Knockers :D The Tank The Homeless Man The Baby The Lawyer The Wandering Minstrel The Shaolin Monk I dunno. I can see a certain symbolism to all of those...but in some cases it's hard to define... "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"
george costanza Posted February 15, 2003 Posted February 15, 2003 As for animal icons, I think pandas are interesting---the animal that is voluntarily trying to opt out of life by non-reproduction! All those wandering Buddhists had an effect on someone... ;) If only the Chinese would leave it alone. ["Everytime I think I'm out , they pull me back in ..."] I realize this completely skips the "Terror" card question...but I think that should be answered by Chief Moose.
Jotown Posted February 15, 2003 Posted February 15, 2003 So the Wewus believes in Tarot Cards? Watch out for the flames. There a lot of narrow minded people around here. Jotown:) "It's all good: Except when it's Great"
george costanza Posted February 15, 2003 Posted February 15, 2003 Well, though you were burned severely in the "Astrologic Wars", JTown, let's remember that we can all believe in Tarot[tm] cards---I've seen 'em, I know they exist! ;)

Gtoledo3 Posted February 15, 2003 Posted February 15, 2003 I've always associated elephants with wisdom...but more of a "tragic wisdom." Wisdom that goes unheeded. I've always associated ants with selflessness, and society. Total lack of individuality. Pandas are kind of the guards of depleting nature. Want mix/tracking feedback? So...whats your point? ;) Jotown:) "It's all good: Except when it's Great"
