Marso
Someone gave me a Strat (that's right) equipped with Lace sensors...red-silver-blue...I'm not too thrilled, are the gold ones any better?
Gabriel E.
No. If you don't like the red or silver ones, you won't like the gold ones. I don't care for the silver, gold or blue but the red one smokes in the bridge position. BTW, before you swap pickups, you might want to change the volume pot value. Is it 250K? Marso
I would have to verify that, It is a Strat plus deluxe. With an active tone pot in the bridge pos. It's just that I find the sound to be rather buzzy when it comes to distortion tones.
Wickerman
What tone are you looking for? For hardrock/blues/jazz (what I play) I really like DiMarzio Red Velvets and DiMarzio Vintage Virtual Heavy Blues single coils.
Marso
Well, I have other strats, one is a model called The Strat, circa 1980, I've change the pick ups and put a JBeck on the bridge and two Seymour Duncan's Alnico. I'm quite satisfied with that. The other one is a Warmoth body with a Pearly gates and two alnicos, good too. The sensors are working fine in studio but when I use it live, I always go back to the Strat or the warmoth. I mostly play blues, blues/rock and classic-ish rock when I play live. I especially dislike the blue Lace because they've put it at the neck position and it's already fatter than the silver and red, so...(what was the big idea?) Wickerman
I LOVE duncan Pearly Gates. I almost put one in the custum guitar I'm building but decided against it because of price. (I'm poor as a chore)
jaccursi
Look into Duncan Vintage Rails. Very quiet and they have a beautful full sound. Buy my Strat!
