Mark V Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 I must be too busy or have my head buried up my own arse, apparently this band called Disturbed debuted at #1 on the album charts and the first I heard was that they are already here doing a concert tour.Anyone seen them? I once had a quasi-religious experience..then I realised I'd turned up the volume.
Bunny Knutson Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 Nope, I haven't scene (sic) 'em live, but I must admit that I kinda like their brand of Nu Metal. I'm down with the sickness. ;) https://bunny.bandcamp.com/ https://theystolemycrayon.bandcamp.com/
mark_dog Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 the lead singers voice makes me want to rip my hair out
not Cereal Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 is that the "shutupwhenimtalkintoyoo" band?
thisDude Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 I laugh every time I hear that song... Oooohhh-waaa-aaa-aaa aa.......... ah..ah..... ah..ah.....ah..ah..... Reminds me of Diddy Kong Racing on N64.
The Bear Jew Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 Coaster... You're thinking of Linkin Park. They do the "shutupwheni'mtalkintoyouuuuuu" song. Disturbed is the band that does the "Down with the sickness" song... the one where the singer does that wacky bird-call thing in the beginning. I dunno. I kinda like Disturbed for what it is: a heavy pop band. Kinda catchy. \m/ Erik "To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists of breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting." --Sun Tzu
not Cereal Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 they both sound the same to me. does that mean i'm old now? I remember when i was a kid, metallica was a GOOD band!!!
The Bear Jew Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 ahahaha.... Yeah, I can see how both might sound the same to you. They both have that Triple Rectifier chugga-chugga guitar sound and a few electronic elements. But yeah, that DOES mean you're old. Sorry. It's OK. You're gonna be alright. When, exactly, was Metallica a good band? Jeeeeez... how long ago were you a kid? \m/ Erik "To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists of breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting." --Sun Tzu
not Cereal Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 master of puppets came out when i was in 8th grade. roughly about the same time "theatre of pain" came out. we all thought meatly crud and metallica were GODS
The Bear Jew Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 Master Of Puppets came out in 1986. I was 15 and in 10th grade. OK... This means you're two years younger than I am. HAHAHAHAHHA. You're like, old. Wait a minute... Dammit... NO YOU'RE NOT. "A man is only as old as the woman he feels." --Groucho Marx That's why I grab so many teenagers at my shows. \m/ Erik "To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists of breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting." --Sun Tzu
not Cereal Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 hey, i have a local friend who is two years older than me. when we talk, he has to crank up his hearing aid so we can talk about the stagecoach he used to drive as a kid. thats when he can find his cane and get out of bed :D
The Bear Jew Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 eh? What's that, sonny? Ow, my hip. Damn rheumatiz... Sit down, lemme tellya about the early '90s, sonny. What was I talking about again? Is it cold in here? What time is it? Ow, my hip. \m/ Erik "To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists of breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting." --Sun Tzu
not Cereal Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 back in my day, we didnt have no pooters, we had apple 2e's and WE LIKED IT! green and black was the color, and thats the way we LIKED IT! program bigger than 512k? TOO BAD! we had big black discs with a hole in the middle and WE LIKED IT! ya new fangled kids and yer contraptions and yer whining about wha wha sutupwhenimtalkintoyou. crank up the crue, fire up the apple 2e, and ride my horse. thats what im gonna do, and save it all on a 512k floppy! cause I LIKE IT!
The Thrashole Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 Actually I kinda like the singers power. all of the local cover bands try to play disturbed and just sound weak in comparison. As far as the current crop of radio garbage goes i like disturbed better than the rest of them. I bought Master of Puppets the first day it hit the stands. I also bought spreading the disease from ANthrax the same day because i liked the album cover. I think I was 15 then too. guess i'm farting dust too. but that is why I have a young wife. :D Reach out and grab a clue. Something Vicious My solo crap
Sylver Posted February 14, 2003 Posted February 14, 2003 I saw them at Ozzfest a few years back. Both my wife and I thought that they were the only band besides Sabbath and Marilyn Manson that were worth a shit. They have some good songs and aren't the same ol', same ol'. I really don't know what to put here.

As for Disturbed, I can dig some of it, as long as the screamer doesn't complain about life sucking too much. I kinda like the new "Prayer" song...pretty catchy. I just hated hearing everyone try to emulate those growling noises.
