PretentiousName
Anyone know how they got those (what sounds like) sliding effects on Beck's Bolero off of Jeff Beck's album "Truth"? Thanks in advance. [ 11-10-2001: Message edited by: PretentiousName ]
gtrmac
It's a guitar slide with echo. This is a trademark Jeff Beck sound. He probably was using an Echoplex in those days since there was no digital delays yet. Mac Bowne G-Clef Acoustics Ltd. Osaka, Japan
BobSanders
I might add that Beck played with his index finger holding it like he had a pick in it. I think when he played on tour ten or so years back with Stevie Ray Vaughan he would wear the nail out and use a pick till it grew back in. Thats how he gets that Beck tone. Lisa
And you've got to love that great scream courtesy of Keith Moon in the middle!
Kendrix
Yeah - and the pounding piano at the end of the break. -A Very big creshndo of pure rock energy. Just think about when this was recorded and what the technology was like at the time. Nothing had ever sounded anything like this up to that point. This is one I can listen to in my head and hear every note and nuance -it's totally "burned in". stanner
i too love this tune -one of the all time great guitar thingees. here is my question: i have heard that the personnel on that particular song were never credited, that j. page is all over the tune and arrangement, and that beck is playing lead on the first half of the song only, does anyone really know? s AMPSSOUNDBETTERLOUDER
TAZZ
I read somewhere that Page wrote the song, and played elec. 12 string,(probably produced!). And that MOONIE was to be part of The Jeff Beck Group! Then Again???????
PretentiousName
It all depends on who you ask. Page is creditted with writing the song on CD I have, but I've seen interviews where Beck claims that all Jimmy did was write the twelve string rhythm guitar part.
