AlChuck Posted October 17, 2001 Share Posted October 17, 2001 That "best fusion recording?" thread on Craig Anderton's forum reminded me about the guitarist Bill COnnors, Al DiMeola's predecessor in Return to Forever. He recorded The Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy with them, and toured for a while (I saw them, in fact, opening for Morslav Vitous-era Weather Report). After leaving RTF, Connors resurfaced a couple of years later playing with Jan Garbarek and did three solo albums on ECM, two all acoustic guitar, one with a quartet, very lovely and sad music. Then about ten years after that he popped up in NYC, did three electric, very Holdsworthy-sounding albums, great stuff... then that was it.
